Our Presenter:
Viv Crone is an electrical engineer with 50 years of experience in high-technology product design and project management. He is a registered professional engineer, a fellow of the South African Academy of Engineering (FSAAE) and the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (FSAIEE), and served as a sessional lecturer at wits university for 10 years. Currently, he is the sole proprietor of VJC Consulting.
What factors are overlooked when considering the energy mix that is needed for South Africa’s power crisis? Can we really do without fossil fuels, if energy justice is the priority? This seminar takes a comprehensive view of South Africa’s current sources of energy and analyses their adequacy to meet the national demand now and for the next few decades. It will likely raise some questions about the direction of energy policies.
Viv crone argues that ‘fixing’ the electricity system will be a long and very complex process of reaching a consensus on the ‘mix’ of energy sources that can deliver a stable and accessible electricity supply.
This is an online seminar. Please register here to attend.
