Join Us for A Day of Reflection on the Refugee/Migrant Experience
Date: 30th November 2024
Time: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Venue: Community House, 41 Salt River Rd, Salt River, Cape Town
In light of recent events, including the controversial police operations sealing off illegal underground mines and the food poisoning scare at spaza shops fueling xenophobic tensions, this event offers a timely opportunity to address the challenges and rights of refugees and migrants in South Africa.
The day will feature a special performance by popular Angolan musician Adamu Da Silva, alongside the powerful Africa Unite Drama Group, whose stories will captivate and inspire. Don’t miss the Umoja Wamama Crafters’ Cooperative showcase, with exquisite handcrafted products available for purchase.
Engage in thought-provoking discussions and a town hall meeting exploring urgent themes such as climate-induced displacement, xenophobia, and the intersection of gender and labour. Connect with a diverse audience committed to justice, dignity, and safety for all.
Co-hosted by the Institute for African Alternatives, Whole World Women’s Association, Human Rights Media Centre, Congolese Civil Society of SA, Umoja Wamama Crafters’ Cooperative, Young Climate Voices, Surplus Radical Bookshop, and Africa Unite.
