57 years ago the African Leaders came together and laid down the foundation footsteps of Africa’s freedom from colonialism and neo-colonialism. The Organisation of African Unity (OAU) was an organisation that promoted unity, cohesion and solidarity amongst the states and this remains to be true with its successor the African Union (AU). Through the years the continent continues to struggle with the social and economic challenges. To mark the Golden Jubilee celebration of the formation of the OAU/AU, Agenda 2063 was born with a vision of creating “An integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa, driven by its own citizens, representing a dynamic force in the international arena”. As Africa Month comes to a close, we celebrate the progress that has been made through the relentless efforts of the African leaders thus far. The potential of the African continent and its peoples is endless and we look forward to participating in this journey to unpack the boundless limits ahead.
