The latest issue of New Agenda is out now. This issue leads with a debate on the mandate of the reserve bank with contributions by Kuben Naidoo, SARB Deputy Governor, and Duma Gqubule, Director of the Centre for Economic Development and Transformation. Another major theme of the issue looks at the state of democracy in South Africa with a feature by Lawson Naidoo of CASAC that asks, “where was parliament while the sate was being captured?”
The issue also includes two excellent interviews with leading international academics. This first is with Jayati Ghosh and C.P. Chandrasekhar on the rise of right-wing nationalism under Modi in India. The second is with Jan Kregel on capitalism and development in the Global South.
