Public Event: PROSPECTS FOR A BETTER SOUTH AFRICA.

The purpose of the forum is to discuss the state of our society and how we are addressing our problems. We seem to be caught in a trap of the legacy of apartheid and new issues that have arisen since democracy. The topic will be introduced by Hon Kgalema Motlanthe, Thuli Madonsela, and Pallo Jordan.

What should be clear to all is that none of us can be complacent at the condition of our country, especially considering the triple challenges of unemployment, poverty and inequality. We are also very conscious of the scale of exclusion which affects so many people in so many different ways, especially spatial, economic and social exclusion.

If we are to build a better South Africa we shall have to vigorously follow a policy of inclusion so that all can participate fully. We understand that there are no simple formulae to bring this about. But perhaps a frank exchange of views between people of diverse affiliations and interests can point to a way forward.

IFAA proposes that all progressive civil society organs in Cape Town and the rest of South Africa get together and engage on how to act as a cohesive and coherent force for social justice. There is enough common ground to begin to talk about platforms for broader civil society unity and partnership.

We ask that you join us on the 30th of August 2018 at the Ashley Kriel Hall in Community House, for what we hope will be one of many other such events.
